We DesignWith

Nature To Create Transformational Spaces

Rooted in South Africa,

Studio Curate is a Design House specialising in hospitality and wellness projects on a global platform.

WE ARE INSPIRED BY:

+ Place, story-telling, myths and fantasy

+ Exploring, playing and discovering

+ History and its ability to redirect action

+ Anthropology, to discover the bones, the forgotten and inform authenticity

+ Conservationists and changemakers and look to them for parameters, knowledge and environmental guidance

OUR SERVICES

We work on projects of various scale and at various levels of involvement. We collaborate with Architects and other Consultants to ensure an integrated result. Our designs are carefully thought through and tested. Our approach is both philosophical and practical to deliver a holistically considered product.

The subconscious and conscious mind appreciates texture, colour and balance. Appreciation of space can be enhanced even through a cup of coffee. This is where we come in, providing direction for the Operational Equipment. From linen to crockery, all of which add the finishing touch to a space and dovetail with the overall design.

Finding the exact balance between expressionism, minimalism and naturalism is a combination we strive to achieve. We look to nature for guidance, inspiration and accountability.

  • 01. INCEPTION: BRIEF & SCOPE DEFINITION
The success of a project is as dependent on the proper understanding of brief and project as the actual execution thereof. Therefor the compilation of key information of the project is compiled and agreed upon. This information includes size of project, room typology, star /tourism grading, Environmental accreditation requirements and expected guest profile. During this phase, we carefully assess and review any existing drawings or desired look & feel imagery
  • 02. DESIGN DIRECTION
The Design Direction stage forms the backbone of the project, grounded in a holistic understanding of the project, it’s location and anthropological attributes. This is informed by in depth studies of context, history, natural phenomena, culture and environmental factors. A design pack is compiled showcasing the research, how it inspires design and then tied together with mood & materiality image compilations and design intent for the interior design palette and space.
  • 03. CONCEPT
The design becomes three dimensional and a clear understanding of the Interior and Architectural amalgamation is gained. The Concept pack includes floor plans, internal elevations, finishes and materiality palette. The production of 3d renders and modelling showcases the design as well as highlights bespoke features and elements.
  • 04. DESIGN & TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT
Through collaboration, adjustment and refinement, the Technical design pack is completed. The pack includes updated drawings as well as the production of technical detail drawings and a Specification booklet for FF&E items. To ensure the desired outcome of colour, texture and form is achieved, samples are ordered and reviewed. This pack enables us to provide a realistic budget.
  • 05. PROCUREMENT & PRODUCTION LIASON & INTEGRATION
We work directly with the selected local and international Procurement Agents to ensure the design intent is followed. Support throughout the production phase is offered through close collaboration with suppliers and craftsmen. Physical sourcing of art & styling adds authenticity to the project.
  • 06. INSTALLATION & ON SITE SUPPORT
On site installation safeguards the design from misinterpretation. We assist the installation team and specialists where needed to make sure the project outcome is as visualised.
  • 07. PROJECT HAND OVER
Depending on the project, we will consolidate any certification and warranties in collaboration with the Procurement Agent. This offers clients future support for replacements and re-orders.
